Mrs. Nelson

Grade 7

While enrolled in college, Mrs. Nelson worked in the Chemistry Department as a lab assistant and participated in the city of Bridgeport's Pollution Research Project. After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Biology (Chemistry minor), Mrs. Nelson worked on pollution research projects at the National Marine Fisheries Service Laboratory. With the arrival of her daughters, Mrs. Nelson remained at home to raise and care for her family. While her daughters were enrolled in school, Mrs. Nelson began to be a substitute teacher and found that she loved that more than working in a research laboratory. Opportunity knocked and a science teacher's position opened at Saint Mary School. Mrs. Nelson began her new career as a science teacher. In the following years she took classes to improve her teaching skills. Mrs. Nelson enjoys reading, sewing and crafting. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her grandchildren.
