Mrs. Birge

Grade 3

Hi!!!! My name is Maureen Birge and I am presently a third grade teacher at Saint Mary School where I have been a member of the faculty since 1990. I have had the opportunity to teach various grade levels including the 2nd and 4th grades, and art classes to children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Prior to coming to Saint Mary School, I also taught first grade. It is always invigorating to be able to work with such vibrant children!

Additionally, I am a caregiver in the After school Program, and also help coordinate a peer tutorial program where high school students help elementary students in need of remedial assistance. Along with another staff member, I enjoy teaching an after school Arts & Crafts Program as an extra curricular activity for many children.

My hobbies include reading, sailing, traveling, and attending sporting events.

My educational background consists of a BS degree in Psychology and Elementary Education from Sacred Heart University and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Currently, I hold Connecticut State Certification for teaching Pre-School through Grade 8.

I am a parishioner of the Saint Mary Community and enjoy serving as a member of the Parish Council. I reside in Milford with my husband Jim, and our three children ~ all graduates of Saint Mary School, Lauralton Hall, Fairfield Prep, and Fairfield University.

As an active member of the parish, school, and community, I look forward to each day and treasure the many wonderful children and adults I encounter along the way.
